ISO 14001 continues to grow in the grip of recession
Research conducted by the Institute of Environmental Management
and Assessment (IEMA) shows that as of 30th June 2010,
the number of ISO 14001 certificates issued by UKAS accredited
certification bodies stood at 8,648 (there is no evidence available
on the number of non-UKAS registrations). On average, there has
been a 28.5% (1,627) increase in certificates issued between 2008
and 2010.
This provides evidence that businesses are continuing to
recognise the benefits of achieving ISO 14001 despite the tougher
economic conditions over the past 2 years.
At Mentor we have noticed that more and more contracts are
asking for stronger environmental credentials with ISO 14001
registration providing a significant advantage.
