Climate Week 2011 kicks off
A host of organisations, schools and local councils across the
UK are taking part in Climate Week 2011.
The week-long national campaign, which runs until 25 March, aims
to educate and inspire people across the country about how to
combat climate change.
Social campaigner, Kevin Steele, who has led the Climate Week
organisers, said, “Climate Week aims to help catalyse a real,
long-term shift in the way society approaches climate change. It
offers an annual opportunity to focus attention on the challenges
and share ideas on how we can overcome them.
“This will result in many more people and organisations adopting
the huge number of changes that can be made, in virtually every
area of human activity, to move towards a low-carbon society,” he
added.
Mr Steele went on to say that the week offers a 'powerful
opportunity' for people to do their bit to help combat climate
change.
Partly sponsored by the RBS Group, Climate Week will see a
host of events being held in a bid to show businesses and
individuals what can be achieved by living in a more sustainable
way.
