Support for preventing illegal working

Employment Law & HR update 02/09/2011

With the risk of penalties of up to £10,000 for employing workers who do not have the right to work in the UK, employers may feel they are in the front line of preventing illegal immigration.

To help with some of the checks that employers are required to make, the Home Office has launched a service that offers employers the opportunity to check certain individuals' right to work in the UK. The service is currently limited to the repeat checks employers are required to make on employees who only have a time-limited right to remain in the UK.
